"Observe how often people say: “I am so busy”

We say this to one another with no small degree of pride, as if our exhaustion were a trophy, our ability to withstand stress was a mark of real character… To be unavailable to our friends and family, to be unable to find time for the sunset (...), to whiz through our obligations without time for a single mindful breath - this has become a model of a successful life.

I’d rather learn to pause."

Thank You for Being Late - Thomas L. Friedman

I finished this painting today. I forced myself to turn off my Mac, put my phone away, and paint for a while. No music, no TV on the background, no nothing. It was hard, after I completely lost the track of time, and 2h passed like 5min. It's finished now, feels good to say. I can see the ocean in it. It remembered me how much I love the ocean. I can see it from my room everyday, I can smell it just by open the window, I can feel it my face in a foggy day. The beautifulness of that fog that is made by the sea, from the sea. How can a grey sky make a city even prettier? The ocean even deeper? It made me miss Winter. I felt good. And then I realised I don't need to quit everything to feel that fresh air everyday. I just need to pause. And I did. Kill my mind. I will always have a view. This painting is the first of a new series, a fresh air that is crossing my face right now, a winter day in the middle of summer. Starting by the first thing that I see when I open my eyes every morning.   Oh cold breeze, you've been missed.
